In order for Accounting Systems to run well, the workstations that run the system must be well maintained. 

Following is a list of some regular maintenance every accounting workstation requires:

• Daily updated Anti-Virus software that is configured for the highest protection. Viruses can wreak havoc on a computer system and corrupt accounting data.

• Weekly online Windows Updates keep workstations running smoothly and patch operating system flaws.

• A hardware or software Firewall to protect workstations  connected to the Internet directly or through a LAN. Unauthorized access of your systems can lead to accounting data loss or even financial theft.

• An up to date workstation; an outdated system will not properly run the latest software and will encounter problems such as data corruption.

• Daily backups (stored off-site) and weekly data restores to confirm backup media integrity. In the event of fire, flood or computer failure, the backup will save the day as it is stored offsite and the existence of accurate data on the backup media was confirmed.
